Some of you may know the band Switchfoot. If not, go check them out here. They came to Baylor on October 28th on their Fading West Tour and through my brother Patrick I was able to shoot the show with a photo pass. This was so much fun! I was able to go back stage and wherever else I wanted to go. Here are a few shots from the concert:
Here we go...
There is so many things I have wanted to post on facebook and what not but I'm just going to compile all of them in this one post. So this isn't much of an update on me but it's things I've been involved with and/or love.
First up goes out to my friends of The Digital Age. They just rocked over 1,000 students at Vertical (coming up soon). For those of you who are in Waco, go to their tour kick-off at UBC @ 7:00. It's only $10 and it's going to be awesome! They also just released episode 9 of their Rockumentary's which I helped film and you can view that here.
Next up is Vertical. Vertical has been the reason I look forward to Monday's. It's FULL of fellowship with classmates, worship and hearing a great message coming straight from the word. Right now going through the Song of Solomon; finding love, making love, and maintaining love. Go listen to their podcast and I promise you, you won't be disappointed.
Baylor football has been killing it the last three weeks and my friends Jacob and Ryan put together this sick video so you should go check it out, here. I also star in it at 2:23. Sic'em.
Lastly, I'd like to share the job opportunity of a lifetime. This opportunity is to work at the best summer camp of all time. A place I like to call home. Kanakuk Kamps. Today they released their Staff Recruitment videos. Below is the 1 minute preview video but click here for the full 14 minute video. All I ask of you is that you pray about it. God will pour into you so much at this magical place. I can't talk it up enough.
Also, really glad that the Fort is starting up again!
Thank you to all who read this. I have no expectations for anyone to read this but it warms my heart when people say they do.
UBC (University Baptist Church) is the church I attend here in Waco and have been super blessed by the people I've met there already. Every week, the benediction is this:
As we approach this week:
May we love God,
Embrace beauty,
And live life to the fullest.
Until next time,
G
Baylor
First week of fall semester, freshman year is done and in the history books. It's been a whirlwind of events since Monday. In fact starting Thursday Baylor has what they call Welcome Week where they place you in a small group of about 15 and you do activities; meals, meals with faculty, spirit rally, serenade (where they freshman guy dorms sing for all the girls dorms // a blast!), church fair, the Big Event (a HUGE dance party with huge inflatables! and of course the final candlelight ceremony. All that before Monday!!! Classes started and anytime I wasn't doing school work I was at an event or hanging with new friends from my floor.
Probably my favorite thing that I've done is meet people. Although I won't remember half the names that I've heard in the past week, I love getting to know new guys and the more people I meet the more I know that this is exactly where God wants me. The community that I have made in my short time here in fall semester has blown my mind and gets me super excited for whats to come.
One thing that I had the opportunity to attend is this ministry called Vertical. This last week it met in Waco Hall and it was packed! Waco Hall holds 2200! I was blown away at the crowd that was there. Anyway, it was an awesome time and God was just whispering in my ear during the worship time that I am exactly where He wants me. One of the worship songs that we sung was Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong. It reminded me of Matthew 14:28-33 where Peter sees Jesus walking on water and steps out of the boat to start to walk towards Him. He suddenly starts to doubt and begins to sink. This was a great reminder of how I just need to keep focused on Jesus and not doubt Him as I start my college career.
A few links before you go:
My brother, Patrick, is the Executive Producer of SerialBox Presents. Check out this well crafted website and the beautiful content in each session. Amazing quality and very entertaining! Click here to view.
If you want to listen to the Vertical message from Monday, Song of Solomon, I highly recommend it if you're a young adult. Good stuff. Click here to listen.
Common Grounds just got #1 best coffee shop near a college campus by Fox News, click here to see article. I'm also now their official photographer for their shows which is pretty exciting for me.
If you haven't gotten Ben Rector's new album the Walking In Between, get it here! It's pretty awesome and I got to see him at Floyd Casey, Baylor's football stadium (until next year), for the traditions rally. Great show!
A quote I posted on Facebook this last week. Really liked it so I thought I'd share again:
“We can ignore even pleasure. But pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” - C.S. Lewis
Until next time!
Athletes in Action @ Baylor!
The past four days I have been extremley blessed to photograph 70+ Baylor athletes as they participate in the 'Ultimate Training Camp.' Athletes in Action strives to see Christ followers on every team, every sport, every nation. As a branch of Campus Crusade for Christ, AIA exists to bring Jesus Christ and His message of victory into the hearts, homes, and communities of millions around the world. AIA puts on this camp called The Ultimate Training Camp which is a high intensity sports camp for college & pro athletes. They tackle the issue of how to blend faith and sport together on the field of competition. It has truley been an amazing experience to see college athletes, from Baylor! Sic 'em! live their lives out for Jesus Christ! Little did I know how much I would enjoy this experience. The staff of AIA was amazing to work with and get to know! I wouldn't change anything for the 29 hours I got to work with them. If I ever get a chance to work with them again at any of their camps, I'll try my best to make it. I'm excited to see the impact that the atletes who attended this camp make on Baylor's campus through sports. God moves in amazing ways!
Check out this video of a previous trianing camp, here! And check out Baylor's UTC's pictures that I took, here!
Until next time.
Brooklin Bailey
Brooklin Bailey - Waco, TX - Golf Extraordinaire
I had the pleasure of attending Link Year with Brooklin and getting to know him better as the year went on. He has won the Texas Oklahoma Junior Championship along with some other big events and will be attending Houston Baptist University in the fall. He is heading to Mississippi and Tennessee for the next few weeks for some amateur events. Magnolia Amateur, Chattanooga Choo Choo, and the US Amateur Qualifier. I very much enjoyed my time on the Ridgewood Country Club course with him today and happened to take my camera with me. Enjoy these sweet shots I got of him today.
