38 Days, 15 days of class, 5 Mystery Monday’s, 4 Regular Friday’s left

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s all coming to an end, which is very sad, but at the same time, very exciting. Things are starting to come together for Baylor and I couldn’t be more ecstatic.

Mystery Monday was very fun this week! They took us to Chick-fil-a in Springfield (because there isn’t one in Branson.) I love Chick-fil-a. Maybe a little too much. It’s almost a sin. Anyways, after everyone had ordered, and was full and happy we loaded the bus to go to an indoor rock climbing place. Everyone had a blast. It was a lot of fun!

I forgot to tell you about our Spring Fling! On Saturday we ventured to Springfield to Lambert’s The Home of Throwing Rolls. Good food. I always definitely eat way too much every time I go there. We ate drank and were merry. We then went to an ice skating rink, skated around for a while until we moved over to our reserved rink to play a little broomball! This was a ton of fun!

This week we had Ben Williams speak to us who is the vice principal of Kansas City Christian Academy. Ben, is simply a geek/nerd. But he is also hilarious, informational and a very good teacher. He has so much information stored up in his; it blew my mind these past couple of days. The first two days he spoke on different worldviews, religions, and cults. The reason it is good and helpful to know about other worldviews is because it allows us to have smarter conversations with others without making anyone look stupid. The information that we got this week will help us in our communicating to people in college. On the last day, Ben went over how we know that the Bible is accurate from what really happened and there is three criteria that this is judged by; quality of the writing, quantity of the copies, and the time interval of when the event happened and when the manuscript is dated to. This is some really interesting stuff. I really enjoyed Ben as a whole. He kept me interested and was really engaging.

7 weeks left

First official week back from spring break which was directly after getting back from N. Ireland. I’ll start this off with Mystery Monday, paintball, in the freezing cold. And when I say freezing cold, I mean it was lightly snowing in the morning. Now I had done paintball before and with my reconstructed knees, it’s just not as fun so I stayed back and took pictures. If it weren’t as cold, it would have been so much more fun, but it was fun.

This week out speaker was Bret Jenson who is the academic dean of MAP seminary and also the associate pastor for Reach Ministries. He talked to us, as Christians that we need to be enamored with the Gospel. Everyday! Sometimes we get this elementary understanding that when we are at the inception of coming to know Christ; we leave this idea of the Gospel behind. As we looked into the book of Acts, we got to see what being reminded of the Gospel looks like corporately and personally. Bret did a phenomenal job of laying this out. His use of illustrations and handouts helped me and other students really picture the point he was conveying to us as his students for the week. The thing that has changed every single Christian is the Gospel and if we distance ourselves from it, we lose that spark. Therefore we can’t let our little light shine to touch the darkness in this world. In the end, we need to daily be reminded of the Gospel. It’s important.

Northern Ireland

Did I forget to tell you guys that I was going to wait two weeks before I wrote a post? I guess I forgot to tell myself that. I've been pretty busy over the past two weeks. I'm currently sitting in my cousins flat in south London writing this blog. But lets rewind a little bit. February 1st I got on a plane to start my journey with 35 companions. We arrived in Dublin early in the morning and took a two hour bus ride to Belfast where we would be staying for the next month. Since then, we have been all over Belfast, the North Coast, a little bit of Dublin. Two weeks of visiting castles, tourist attractions, cathedrals, cemetarys, bridges, and much, much more. Starting on the 13th, we had a time span of 4 days to travel, if we would like, to any countries near by.  A bunch of us decided to go to London. I hung out with the guys the first day and then yesterday, the 14th, I met my cousin at Victoria station and am going to hang out with her for today and tomorrow. 

So much has happened in the past two weeks that it would be hard to fit everything into this post. semester 2 / weeK 3

            This week has been filled with anticipation to say nonetheless. It started off with a little Mystery Monday that got us in the mood for Ireland, which was visiting the Titanic Museum here in Branson! It was very interesting! They had quite a bit of actually artifacts from the ship that made it feel real. That had a bunch of fun interactive stations for example how cold the water was and to see how long you could keep your hand it in. It was a lot of fun! Especially because it was constructed in Belfast, Ireland!

            This week our speaker was David Marvin who is a long time friend of mine. David works Watermark in Dallas, TX. Watermark is a huge church in Dallas that sees about 12,000 people in a week. David specifically works for a ministry they have called The Porch that caters to about 2,300 young adults every Tuesday night. He talked to us about missions but not how we usually think of it. Most of the time when we Americans think that going on a missions trip consists of going to a different country far off. This is totally wrong. We are always on a mission to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ! One thing that stood out to me was that we are ambassadors for Christ. We are representing where we are from, heaven, in a different country, the US. An ambassador is usually of high rank too which tells how important our job actually is. In Luke 19:1-10 it says “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” We as part of Jesus’ church are His hands and feet. We are His messengers for His Gospel. David was a great speaker to have right before we go to Northern Ireland for a month. He was very interactive which spiced it up a little.

            Tomorrow, in less than 24 hours, I will be in Ireland! I am ecstatic! For the next month, my home will be Ireland and you better believe I will be blogging about it. Stay tuned!

           Football, rugby, power tools! That is one of the several men cheers that we have at Kanakuk in the summer and this week was full of manly things because it was Man Week. You're about to get jealous because our Mystery Monday started off with some clay/skeet/trap shooting. Whatever it's called. I've only shot a few guns in my life most of which was at a government shooting range (free ammo, and fully automatic weapons) and it's been a few years. But I was pretty proud of myself. I was able to shoot down 8 out of 25 using 5 different guns. Usually lunch is not included in Mystery Monday's but this one included grilling some juicy steaks on the grill. I'm just going to say that I need some practicing and it made me miss my dad’s steaks. 

            Continuing on the theme of Man Week, Adam Martin took us down to the lower fields down by the lake where he had a campfire ready for us to keep us warm. He also had some fun surprises waiting for us such as a huge potato launcher, a sparkler bomb, a dryer to destroy, a TV to destroy and a few fun games. But in the midst of all of these fun man things, he told us what it means to be a real man of God. Bruce Morgan brought it on Wednesday when he talked to us about the characteristics of what men have and what Godly men have. Donyes brought it hard on Thursday and talked about being men verses being boys (and we also watched an episode of Duck Dynasty). This week was full of fun activities but also full of what, as a man of God, I need to be focused on.

            Cole Wardell, who works for Afterdark brought it on Wednesday night when he covered Proverbs 18 this week at the Fort! (Click on the hyperlinks to check them out!)

Only a week until I leave for Ireland for a month! Getting really excited!
